North Norfolk church celebrates 150 years with festival
Sloley Methodist Church is small rural chapel and community in the heart of Norfolk. Founded in 1869 the chapel had been a centre of faith in the village of Sloley ever since, and this year is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
The corner stone was laid by Samual Jarrold, son of John Jarrold II and himself a local preacher, on 13th May 1869, with the chapel opening its doors on 6th October. To celebrate, the church is holding its annual Summer Festival over the August Bank holiday weekend, with a concert on the Saturday evening; a 150th anniversary Service on the Sunday and a Summer Fayre on the Monday.
Saturday August 24: Hog Roast 6pm | Summer Concert 7pm, led by our friends from Gillingham Methodist Church;
Sunday August 25: Anniversary service 2.30pm (with Worship Singing from 2.15pm), led by the GMC Worship Group & Band;
Monday August 26: Summer Fayre 10am-3pm, with our infamous Ploughman's Lunches served from 12pm.
The kind folk at Sloley are renowned for their hospitality and you will be made more than welcome at any of the events. Please check out the Facebook page for more details or call 01603 720865.
