Sarah was passionate about prayer and painting
Norfolk-based Christian worker, evangelist, intercessor and artist Sarah McCrum has died at the age of 86. Son Angus pays tribute.
Sarah passed away peacefully last Sunday afternoon, May 21, with her last moments the day before reminiscing and smiling over the phone with her children.
Born in Hertfordshire in June 1936, and having grown up in Southern Africa, Sarah moved to Norfolk with her late husband Michael McCrum and entered ministry with Bob Gordon and The King’s Coaches.
After seeing many miracles and bringing many people to Jesus, their ministry turned closer to home where they helped in various local churches that needed someone to stand in while the church found a minister. In Mulbarton, both Michael and Sarah were closely involved in bringing about the purchase of Harvest House which is a useful venue in the community for outreach and a meeting place.
Mum was not only a passionate prayer, she was also an artist too, lighting up a canvas with messages more profound than words could capture. Everywhere she went, she left the wonderful aroma that Jesus promises we will leave. She was loved by all… even in the last few months in the care home where she lived in Norwich, those who met her left not only feeling valued and cared for, but with a smile on their faces.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her many friends. I suspect the life she lived will continue to have an impact…
I remember once she answered a call from a distant call centre and gently led the lady on the other end of the phone to Jesus. A few years later, that lady visited London, and with a thankful heart called mum to tell her all about her story.
Sarah’s funeral is on Friday, June 2, Mulbarton Church, 3pm. All are welcome.
