Rob offers experience to Norfolk Christian leaders
With experience as MD of John Lewis in both Norwich and Cambridge, as a trustee of the Church Urban Fund and as a Director of Westminster Abbey Enterprise, leadership consultant Rob Hallam has much to offer Christian leaders across Norfolk.
As well as working in Norwich, Rob and his wife Liz already provide support to Christian leaders through a small retreat they own in North Norfolk, so he is very familiar with the area.
And now, Rob has launched Invigilo Consulting, to enable him to offer practical support and encouragement to Christians in their leadership roles of local organisations.
“I have a particular passion to assist charities or Christian organisations in mission,” says Rob, who has accumulated a wealth of leadership experience which he wants to use directly and through others, to benefit the wider community.
An extensive executive career in retail included four years as the Managing Director of the John Lewis department stores in both Norwich and Cambridge - where he oversaw an entire refurbishment of the former and then led the build and early years of the new store in Cambridge. He subsequently led national employee engagement teams for the John Lewis Partnership focussing with the Boards on the cultural heart and employee ownership distinction.
Rob has held multiple board roles and is currently a Director of Westminster Abbey Enterprise Ltd, is a Trustee of the Church Urban Fund and acts in both a mentoring and consultancy capacity for commercial, charity and Christian leaders. He is currently writing an article on Leading Change for ‘Faith in Business’ quarterly publication.
Rob and Liz affirmed their commitment to the vitality of Christian ministry in Norfolk when, in 2014, they renovated a property in North Norfolk: “We wanted to create a home-from-home Christian retreat aimed specifically to encourage and refresh leaders, along with their families, for all the amazing work they do.”
The house has provided free-of-charge relaxation and recuperation for over 150 different guests from across the UK - unsurprisingly this special hospitality continues to be in great demand.
Minister of Lighthouse Church Sheringham, Ian Savory, knows the couple: “Rob and Liz had a vision to serve those in Christian ministry who come to North Norfolk for much-needed rest. The house, we know personally, has blessed and more importantly restored so many leaders, particularly those who are not just tired but going through significant hard times. A house of rest, a house of restoration on our doorstep in the long heritage of this area, is making a huge difference.”
Rob’s work within Invigilo Consulting offers personal, compassionate support for leaders and organisations.
“My motivation is in striving to make a positive difference to leaders, enabling them to successfully develop their teams, communities and organisations,” says Rob. “I am a firm believer in the importance of principles and values, understanding how they shape the role of leadership.
“I believe I understand the challenges that leadership brings. If the navigation of your leadership journey feels daunting and an independent perspective from an experienced Christian could help, then please get in touch.”
