Training tackling extremism open to Norfolk faith groups

Local faith groups are invited to a one-day training course on tackling extremism and radicalisation in Norwich on March 20.

The interactive training day will cover cover ideology and counter narrative and will include lots of examples and advice. The training is delivered by experts from training provider Me & You, who bill themselves as ‘the skinhead’ and ‘the scholar’.
The free training course has been arranged in Norfolk by PC Donna Flannagan, who is keen to get members of the faith community along. She said, “We all have a duty to protect our community and make sure that anyone who is vulnerable to radicalisation within our communities, gets the help and support they require”.
The course is led by Dave Allport and Imam Muhammad Irfan Chishti. They say, “We mutually agree that empowering people (the right way) goes a long, long way into fighting the fight against the many headed monster of extremism, radicalisation and ultimately terrorism.”
