Police appeal for help with Rollesby church lead theft
Thieves targeted St. Georges Church, Rollesby, Great Yarmouth earlier this month, and the local police are appealing for information about the theft.
The thieves struck overnight between 9pm on Monday April 3 and 11am on Tuesday April 4, and stole lead from three quarters of the south-facing flat roof. They drove through the graveyard, which made the crime even more of an intrusion into village life.
Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between the dates stated, or anyone with information, should contact PC Gary May at Caister Police Station on 101.
The incident did, however, stir up community spirit in the village, with residents rallying in support, and scaffolding and tarpaulins being erected without charge within 24 hours.
