Crafty halfCFCraft half in Thetford Forest in aid of Street Child

Taking place at Thetford Forest on Saturday February 2, the Craft Half is a half marathon with a tasty difference. There is also a 10k option and a fun run as well as opportunities for volunteers to be involved too.

Love running and love beer? Street Child have the race for you! Runners will be rewarded with half pints of craft beer at fueling stations every two miles. Runners can also opt for the less intense 10K option - all the benefits of the Craft Half but just one lap of the route or the ‘Mini Half’: a 1 mile fun run open to under 18s (and accompanying adults) along the trails of Thetford Forest.

The fun doesn’t stop at the finishing line - Street Child will host the ‘Halfter Party’ with all runners and supporters invited into the event village complete with live music, sizzling Street Food and, of course, the option of more craft beer!

Lucy James, organiser of the Craft Half says, “We thought the idea of running with beer might be popular and we were right - last year we organised a Craft Half on Wimbledon Common which sold out so don’t delay in booking your place!”

The event forms part of Street Child’s ‘Count Me In’ UK Aid Match appeal, whereby all public donations made before 21st February will be matched by the UK government up to £2 million, meaning Street Child can help more children in Sierra Leone go to school and learn. Donations will also help Street Child get more children into education in some of the world’s other toughest places.

All participants are asked to commit to fundraising £150 in support of Street Child’s work. With UK Aid Match, £150 becomes £300 which will allow Street Child to train a teach or to cover the cost of school fees, uniform and learning materials for 10 children.

Founder and CEO of Street Child, Tom Dannatt says, “The fundraising generated by the Craft Half is a huge opportunity to make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable children around the world. So get your mates together and join us for a half marathon with half pints that’s double the fun!”
