Norfolk training on yoga and the Christian journey
A Jesuit priest from India, Father Korko Moses, will be leading a two day event in Norwich on August 18 - 19 on 'Unity with the Divine - Yoga and the Christian Journey into Contemplation.
This event is hosted by Norwich Christian Meditation Centre and will be held at St Luke's Church in Norwich.
This Christian inter-faith event aims to revisit the spiritual journey in view of Hindu and Buddhist teachings and asks what we have neglected in our own tradition that they can shine a light on and thereby aid us. Throughout each day there will be increasing periods of silent prayer, building up from five minutes to 20 minutes.
The teaching around yoga – which may not be what you thought it was – gives an outline that Christians can follow towards a state of abiding silent prayer.
Debbie House from Norwich Christian Meditation Centre said, "Father Korko is a trusted and trustworthy guide. He founded and leads a Christian ashram, Dhyanavanam, in southern India, where he receives groups of seminarians as well as seekers of any or no faith. For many years he has come each summer to Ireland and England to lead retreats, and we are honoured to welcome him to Norwich."
