Morris dancers welcome May at the Cathedral
Morris dancers from across Norwich gathered at Norwich Cathedral to welcome in May.
Part of the traditional May Day celebrations, local morris groups, including Kemp’s Men of Norwich and Golden Star Morris, entertained spectators with a variety of dances in the upper Close outside the North West door of the Cathedral.
May Day marks the start of ‘the season of warmth and light’ (summer) and the morris dancing at dawn celebrations started at 5am on St James’ Hill, followed by 6am at The Forum, before dancing at the Cathedral at 7am.
