Church partnership relaunch Gorleston Magazine 

Three churches in Gorleston have relaunched the popular Gorleston Community Magazine this month having set up a social enterprise together.

Gorleston Community Magazine is celebrating a new start as it relaunches, led by the three Anglican churches in Gorleston. It launched at the Gorleston clifftop festival last weekend, where copies were given away to around 1,000 people, with over 3,000 additional copies being distributed to houses and public places.

St Andrew’s Church (Anglican), St Mary Magdalene Church (Anglican) and Cliff Park Community Church (Anglican and Baptist), all of which are based in Gorleston, have now joined forces to set up a Community Interest Company (CIC) which will allow the magazine to continue as a not-for-profit enterprise for the benefit of the local area, with over 4,000 copies of each edition being distributed for free.

Gorleston Community Magazine features articles from local organisations, groups and charities in the Gorleston area as well as useful information about services and businesses. It also contains information about the local churches and a Christian reflection. The magazine will be published bi-monthly and distributed free in the area.

The magazine, which was established in 2018 by St Andrew's Church, was put together, edited and published by Karen and Derek Bryant for many years. Gorleston Community Magazine won Best Editor in 2021 and Best Design in 2022 in the National Parish Magazine Awards. However the future of the magazine was uncertain when the previous editors needed to lay it down.

Rev Matthew Price, Vicar at St Mary Magdalene Church in Gorleston, and one of the directors of the new Gorleston Community Magazine CIC says: “Gorleston Community Magazine has a long history of providing high quality news and information to the Gorleston community which the new team hope to be able to continue and build on. We want to provide a resource which connects, informs and uplifts people in our local area as well as providing an opportunity to connect to our churches and faith.”
