On June 29 Rev’d Kyla Sørensen from St. Mary’s Church Watton received a cheque for £382 from Elaine Skinner of Breckland Funeralcare in Watton towards purchasing a new defibrillator for the town.

“We have been concerned from some time that there isn’t a defibrillator at this end of the town and outside St. Mary’s is an ideal location to house one for the benefit of the surrounding community.” said Churchwarden Linda Benton.

There are a number of fundraising events planned to raise the money necessary to purchase this important piece of equipment. Some money has already been raised by the people of Redhill Park at a special afternoon tea over the Jubilee weekend at the beginning of June. Other fundraising will also be undertaken by 1st Watton Rainbows, who are based in the Church Rooms at St. Mary’s.

Revd Kyla said: “This is a wonderful boost to our campaign to purchase a defibrillator to be located on Church Road. This equipment will save lives.”

Everyone at St. Mary’s church family gives their thanks for all the hard work and commitment for the money raised so far.

Breckland Funeralcare is always supportive of local community events and gets involved in many activities across the town throughout the year. Revd Kyla told us: “This is a great example of church and business working in partnership to benefit the whole community.”

Anyone who would like more information on how to contribute to this important project can contact the church office on 01953 881252.
