Easter treats and hope from Norwich debt centre

Local debt centre Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is celebrating Easter by giving packs of treats to the families they support.

The Norwich Central branch of CAP is based at Surrey Chapel and offers free debt help to local people facing money problems.

Julia Morrish, Norwich Central CAP Debt Centre Manager, said: ‘This year more than ever, we want to bring a message of support and hope for a better future to our clients.

‘It’s been a tough year for everyone, especially those finding themselves in financial struggles. Our message is simple: ‘you are not alone, and there is always hope’.

‘We hope that these small gifts help our families to celebrate Easter, to be encouraged and to feel hopeful at this special time of the year.

‘Our team is here to help with debt problems throughout the year via our CAP Debt Help service.  As we’re local we can also support clients practically too.

‘This includes linking clients up with local food banks, arranging emergency food shops, emergency fuel, support, encouragement and a friendly voice at the end of a phone.’

Norwich supermarket Morrisons (Riverside) has supported Julia and her team, helping to supply hot cross buns and chocolate treats for the hampers.

Julia added: “We are really grateful to Geoff Nicholls and the rest of the Morrisons (Riverside) team for their generosity.  It’s great to see a local supermarket wanting to help some of our city’s most vulnerable families.”

Since the pandemic hit, the CAP Debt Help service has adapted its service to follow social distancing guidelines to keep clients, staff and volunteers safe, but is still offering its award winning debt help along with unique support, across the local area.
