Norwich foodbank launch Pack a Hamper for Christmas

Expecting to distribute over 1,000 food parcels over the month of December and with limited time to stock up, Norwich foodbank is asking supporters to help by getting involved in their new Christmas ‘Pack a Hamper’ campaign.

Norwich foodbank has launched their Christmas campaign and this year it is something a bit different.

The ‘Pack a Hamper’ campaign asks supporters to put together a single, couple or family food parcel. The hamper will be pre-filled from Norwich foodbank’s warehouse with foodstuffs that they are well supplied with. Supporters will be asked to pick up the pre-filled box and add in donations to turn it into the nutritionally balanced parcel Norwich foodbank can then give out.

Hannah Worsley, Project Manager of Norwich Foodbank, said: “Our supporters have been SO generous over the last couple of years as we’ve run the Reverse Advent Calendar campaign, but this year we wanted to try something else to help people better understand our core work of distributing food parcels and engage with those using our services in a more real way.”

The foodbank team will be making up the starter kits from stocks so anyone taking part will have a box to pack the items into as well as a comprehensive list of what else to include.

Please order the size of parcel – single, couple or family - by phone on 01603 251733 or email and collect from our warehouse at 51 Ivy Road, NR5 8BF.

Hannah said: “We then need these complete parcels back by the Friday December 6 so we can get them out to those who need our support during our busiest month of the year. We expect to distribute over 1,000 food parcels in December. We hope this will be of interest to you, your family, friends, colleagues, churches and we look forward to hearing from you!”
