News photographer and Norwich minister's new show

Former press photographer turned Norwich Minister, Rev John Potter, is combining his dual passions for faith and photography in a new photographic exhibition called ‘Seeing the Way’, opening on September 13 at Princes Street URC.

‘Seeing the Way’ is a new photographic exhibition by the Minister of Princes Street United Reformed Church in central Norwich, Rev John Potter (pictured). The exhibition will be on display during the two weekends of the Heritage Open Days on September 13-15 and September 20-22, as part of the church’s 200th anniversary celebrations.

The exhibition builds on John’s previous career as a professional news photographer for two regional papers in the Midlands, as well as his work on commission for a press agency for national newspapers and other publications.

“Seeing the Way” has taken several years to complete, however over the summer John took time to study and explore how photography and the Christian faith combine. The exhibition is the major product of that study.

Rev Potter said: “This is the first time I have exhibited any of my photographs and am thrilled at this opportunity. The images are offered in the hope that other people may see something in them and may be able to reflect on them and their own lives. Although some of the exhibition is specifically Christian it is suitable and open to everyone to come and reflect on your life journey.”

Princes Street URC will be showcasing the work from 10am - 4pm on the Friday and Saturday of the Heritage Open Days and 12pm-4pm on both Sundays. Entry is free.

There will also be displays about the church’s history and refreshments available.
