Norfolk conference on children, youth and family work

The Diocese of Norwich are hosting a ‘One Big Day’ conference in Dereham this November for teams who work with children, young people or families in a Christian setting; packed with talks and seminars to encourage greater confidence in these ministries and to explore how to develop a culture of discipleship.

If you are involved in work with children and young people in your church or local school then there is one date you should have in your diary this year.

On Saturday, November 2, 9am–5pm in Northgate High School, Dereham the Diocese of Norwich are hosting the ‘One Big Day Conference: Growing Everyday Faith’. You are invited to come and explore with your team, volunteers and others what it means to develop a culture of discipleship across generations, abilities, geographical boundaries and in the wider community.

Liz Dawes from the Children, Youth and Families Team at the Diocese of Norwich said: “We will explore how what we do as 'church' can really connect with those in our communities and how we can inspire and encourage greater confidence in our ministries and amongst the children, young people and households we are aiming to reach.”

As well as some insightful and thought provoking keynotes from Laura Hancock of Youth for Christ and the Rev Canon Dr Sandra Millar of Church House, there will be seminar streams throughout the day to help you unpack some of the potential and possibilities for your own work and setting.

There are eight seminar workshops to choose from and delegates can attend three different sessions through the day.

  • Pioneering Intergenerational Church with Becky May from Messy Church (BRF)
  • Nurturing Faith in Families with Gareth Hillier from Care for the Family
  • Inclusion with Naomi Graham from Growing Hope
  • Prayer Spaces in Schools
  • Open the Book
  • Baptism, Christening and Liturgy
  • The Golden Thread
  • Youth Culture.

As well as seminars there will be the opportunity to visit a marketplace of organisations doing aspects of youth and children’s work including Youth for Christ, ROOTS Magazine and YMCA who will be promoting their Mental Health Awareness training.
The day costs £7.50 including breakfast and lunch.  Advanced booking is required here at the Diocese of Norwich website.  Contact Liz Dawes at or 01603 882335 for further information.

Do you appreciate our service and stories?

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.

To pay for that service, we rely on our partner organisations, advertisers and readers to, in turn, support us financially. We want to keep the website free for everyone to access and continue to be able to pay for writers to produce the content you can enjoy every day.

We would like to ask you to consider supporting our work and suggest you might want to make a small regular donation of just £1 a week and become one of our 100 Friends, or a larger one-off or annual amount.

Because we are part of a registered charity we can reclaim Gift Aid on your donations if you are a tax-payer.
