400 hymns sung in one day at Norwich church

An incredible 400 hymns were sung in a Norwich church in one sitting recently as part of a Norfolk Day hymnathon.

Christ Church, Eaton, held the marathon sing on Friday July 27, both to raise money for church funds and to celebrate Norfolk Day.  The choir, and supporters, sang a verse from 400 different hymns from the current church hymn book, starting at 4pm and ending at 10pm, with a performance of “Jerusalem” at the end.

It all took place in boiling hot weather and there are still a few hymns to go to complete the book, so watch out for another possible hymnathon in the autumn.
