Open day tells story of Norwich Cathedral

To celebrate the publication of a new book, The Story of Norwich Cathedral, you are invited to come and discover the story of your Cathedral with a special Bank Holiday Open Day on May 29.

There will be activities running throughout the day between 11am and 3.30pm for people of all ages, including:

  • Games in the Cloisters
  • Storytelling by costumed characters
  • 30-minute taster tours of the Cathedral (at 2.00pm, 2.30pm and 3.00pm)
  • Special tours for families led by the Dean’s pet dog, Lily the Labradoodle!
  • Dress up as a monk and play games of Nine Mens Morris
  • Make a pilgrim’s badge

In addition, there are a number of other timed events taking place:

11.00am - Organ Recital (Cathedral Nave)
11.30am - Meet Cathedral characters of the past (Cloisters)
12.00pm - Participate in a grand procession into the Cathedral (departs from Cloisters)
2.00pm - The Cabbage Skittle Challenge! (Cloister Garth)
3.00pm - Dance around the Labyrinth (Cloister Garth)

The Refectory Café and Cathedral Gift Shop will be running special discounts and promotions to mark the day.
