Walsingham garden party 540CF
Walsingham church garden party success

The recent garden party at St Seraphim’s chapel in Walsingham raised £500 for the upkeep and maintenance of the Quiet Garden. Tony Rothe reports.

The chapel, which was until 1964 the village railway station, is an Orthodox chapel. The gardens have been developed over the last few years by a team of Community Payback Volunteers to create a natural space which complements the spirituality of the Chapel and provides a calming and natural reflective space for use by pilgrims, visitors and the local community.

  • Restored lamp and oil shed.
  • A shaded pergola.

The gardens are open to the public on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons with a Welcomer on hand to assist and to provide refreshments. There is disabled access to the garden via a ramp from Station Road.
Sylvia Batchelor from the chapel said “The garden party on Saturday June 25 was a lovely event,  thanks to the Pilgrim Jazz Band and all who attended in such beautiful weather.”
