Gospel singers congregate for Norwich concert
Members of a network of Rock Gospel choirs from universities across the country are coming together for a week long residential to prepare and perform a concert in Norwich on April 9.
Revelation Rock-Gospel Choirs has a network of Christian based choirs based in 8 universities across the country. From April 2-10, members of these choirs will be gathering at Norwich Central Baptist Church (NCBC) to sing, learn songs, make music, socialise, pray, eat, sleep and rehearse for a final concert open to the public on Saturday April 9, 7.30pm.
The initiative is an annual residential event that meets in a different city each year. The theme for the week in Norwich is 'Coming Home'.
Emma Warren from Revelation Rock-Gospel Choirs said: “You go into the week knowing none of the songs and you come out knowing more songs than you thought possible. It’s pretty impressive.
“Obviously, there’s a lot of rehearsing involved during the week - chances to suggest songs, arrange, teach and conduct, sing as a soloist as well as in the choir, and play in the band, but there’s plenty of time for other fun stuff as well.”
Several members of the choirs made a pre-visit to NCBC in February and enthralled the congregation when they performed a couple of songs during the Sunday morning service.
The final concert will take place at Norwich Central Baptist Church on Saturday April 9, with doors open at 7pm for the concert starting at 7.30pm. Tickets will be sold on the door for £5 each or £3 for concessions.
