The Anglican Centre in Rome, housed in the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, is the permanent presence of the world-wide Anglican Communion in Rome. It helps to "promote Christian unity in a divided world with the focus on developing deeper relations between the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion".
The Centre was dedicated by Archbishop Michael Ramsey on 22 March 1966. It aims to create a place for Anglicans and Roman Catholics to come together for full and frank discussions and debates on issues which unified and divided them. This enables these two great world-wide bodies to work more effectively together and be greater instruments for God amongst those who suffer the most, those trapped in poverty and oppression.
The Centre has continued to play a key role in encouraging the growing relationship between Rome and Canterbury as it provides a ministry of hospitality and prayer together with educational opportunities.
The aim of The Anglican Centre in Rome is to promote Christian Unity in a Divided World. The Most Revd David Moxon, who is the Director of the Centre is also the Archbishop of Canterbury's representative to the Holy See (The Vatican).
