The Magi journey to Norfolk church

Springs Dance Company brings its festive, witty and poignant Advent performance Journey of the Magi to New Life Church in December with an afternoon dance workshop and evening performance that will interest people of all ages.

journey-of-the-magi 1From 7pm on Saturday December 12 at Banham Community Centre, there will be sparkling production of dance, theatre, song and poetry for all the family; prior to this a dance workshop from 2pm is open to anyone age 12 and upwards.

Step out of the Christmas rush this year and pause to reflect on the festive season. Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s poem Journey of the Magi, the performance helps audiences reflect on not only the famous journey the wise men made following the star to Jesus, but also the ‘journey’ everyone makes each year in preparing for Christmas Day. Through exploring images in the poetry, Springs has devised a presentation of some of the all too familiar processes that all go through and witness, in dealing with the expectations and realities of the festive season. The show not only entertains but also provokes consideration for change.

Join the performers of Springs Dance Company in a dance workshop prior to the main performance. Springs Dance Company specialises in delivering performances and workshops, using dance for worship and to teach biblical stories and ideas. The company will be leading a workshop based on their performance for anyone age 12+.  The workshop will give you an insight into the backstage rehearsals of the company - and get you warmed up for Christmas.

‘Forget The Nutcracker, Springs Dance Company's Journey of the Magi is the best Christmas show I have ever seen! I went along to see it one dark, wet and dismal night in Birmingham and I came out having been touched, amused and moved to tears. Journey of the Magi looks beyond the tinsel and trappings and reveals the real meaning of Christmas.’ - David Bintley CBE, Artistic Director, Birmingham Royal Ballet

Tickets for both events are available from the link below, and cost £5 for the dance workshop and £7.50 (£5 for under 16’s) for the performance.
