Norfolk holiday club; from creation to resurrection Showstoppers 3

50 children recently enjoyed Eaton Parishes holiday club that looked at God’s big plan for the world, from creation to resurrection; drama, craft and games all helped to tell the show-stopping story

With a different theme each day the Holiday Club learnt that God created an amazing world and saw that it was good; David and Goliath showed how important we all are to God, and the story of Daniel taught about the importance of prayer.

Christmas was celebrated, yes you did read that correctly! The birth of Jesus was the next part of God’s big plan for the world, and If singing ‘away in a manger’ in July wasn’t weird enough, the week ended with Easter!

Highlights of the week included daily dramas from the Showstoppers theatre company directed by St Andrew’s Creative Arts youth worker Libby Redman, new songs led by Margaret Smith, Anna Liddell headed up the craft activities which included tea light holders, magnets, key rings, and puppet theatres, and lively team games, organised and implemented by Sam WoodsShowstoppers 2

For the third year running a prayer space allowed the children to experience quiet and creative ways of talking to God, and at the end of each day, the children were asked if there was anything they would like to give thanks for and were prayed for before they went home.

Andrea Woods, holiday club leader and children, young people and families worker for St Andrew’s said:  “It has been a really fantastic week. The children have been great fun and joined in with enthusiasm. There have been some amazing conversations. A team of over 30 people of all ages used their God-given gifts and talents to serve in a variety of ways. I give thanks to God for each one of them.”

On the last day, parents were invited to attend a short service of thanksgiving and to stay for lunch, made by local caterers ‘Star Value’.This provided everyone with a great opportunity to chat and share what had been going on all week.

The pictures show some of the activities during the week.

Both Christ Church and St Andrew’s offer a variety of activities for children, young people and families. For more information please contact: andrea@eatonparish.com or office@eatonparish.com
