Testimony and thanksgiving for Norwich YFC

NYFCthankgiving

Norwich Youth for Christ held its Annual Thanksgiving on 10th November at Gateway Vineyard Church with a worship band, young people and staff all giving testimony to what God is doing in the city.

The evening saw staff deliver an assembly as it would be within a school environment, an impromptu flash mob by the gospel choir, project stories from young people's involvement in the summer Newday event as well as a testimony by Becca Coulton who chronicled her four year journey with NYFC and how she is now acting as a young leader within some groups.

'I had so many questions and it was great having somewhere to explore them' said Becca. 'I'm helping at an after school club and a youth club. It's great to be able to give something back'

Director Nick Blanch said that it was right to pause and take time to thank God as well as commit the future to Him. He gave praise to former director Mark Tuma and the current staff during what had been a transitional year and stated 'I'm building on some great work here, kingdom work and I want to continue that kingdom work'.

Speaking on Romans 15 he shared how the apostle Paul sought to go to people who had not heard the gospel before. He felt this was a perfect fit for NYFC's vision to see every young person in Norwich encounter the gospel.

Outlining the way forward, Nick shared 4 priorities for the future which included Schools work, the Arts, Partnerships and Resourcing others. Ideas suggested under the priorities included a new full time schools worker, drama and film clubs, strong relationships with churches and organisations and equipping young people and churches through leadership and youth work training.

500fivers

Concluding the evening, NYFC launched a week of prayer and '500 Fivers', a new fund-raising campaign, which seeks to find 500 regular donations of £5 a month, in order to make the ideas a reality. Staff had committed themselves to pray every day for an hour for young people in Norwich during the week and supporters were invited to join them.
