Church helps community celebrate St George
Norwich Vineyard took a leading role in the Thorpe St Andrew Town Council St George’s Day event last Sunday (April 22), opening up proceedings with an outdoor service - despite torrential rain and hail.
Scores of church members braved the difficult conditions to celebrate their faith publically. They also provided free drinks and doughnuts to event attendees, a treasure hunt and children’s activities.
It is the latest in a series of collaborations between the church and Thorpe Town Council who appreciate the support given to them.
Church pastor Geoff Lawton, said: “We have been working closely with the Town Council for a couple of years now at events such as Switching on the Christmas Lights and the Christmas Carol Concert. It is a great way to share with the community and opens up great opportunities to have meaningful conversations and offer prayer.”
Vineyard members will next be taking a role in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration on Monday June 4 when they will be serving traditional afternoon teas at the Thorpe St Andrew event at the recreation Ground on Laundry Lane from 3-5pm.
