Norwich church offers alternative to Halloween

NCBC Light Party1More than fifty children and young people enjoyed food, fun and games as they attended a Light Party, as a positive alternative to the usual Halloween celebrations, at Norwich Central Baptist Church on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, October 31 Norwich Central Baptist Church (NCBC) hosted a Light Party attended by over fifty children and young people, aged 5 upwards.

Children in years 1 – 6 enjoyed an early evening event from 6.00pm - 7.30pm, with young people aged up to 16 partying from 7.45pm - 9.30pm

Light party organiser Nicki Collins, the Elder with responsibility for Youth and Children's Work at the church said: “We really wanted to provide an opportunity for the children to have lots of fun without having to dress in scary costumes and knock on people’s doors.

“We asked them to dress in really bright clothing and we set up a range of games and activities, including a graffiti wall, art items, doughnut eating and a treasure hunt. At the end of the evening, everyone received a goodie bag.”

The church is very keen to continue making links with the local community showing, via practical and positive action, that God’s love is for everyone and all are welcome to belong.
