Join West Norfolk GenR8 team to bring fun and faith

As West Norfolk GenR8 prepares for its Christmas tour visiting over 45 primary schools in three weeks, it is seeking volunteer recruits to join the team in their mission to share the Christian faith with children in a fun way.

GenR8 was established in 2001 as a team of five volunteers who wanted to present entertaining Christian assemblies in primary schools. The West Norfolk GenR8 team now visit around 45 schools, reaching up to 6,000 children each term.

Anne Sparrow from West Norfolk GenR8 said: “The West Norfolk GenR8 team at the moment consists of just three members and we would love to have new recruits for the Christmas tour. We visit approximately 45-60 West Norfolk schools in three weeks (Monday – Thursday) in November and December.”

The GenR8 assembly presentations aim to combine fun and faith with songs, puppets, sketches, stories and lots of participation from the children. High quality material is provided for teams, along with guidance from experienced team members.

The West Norfolk GenR8 team are looking for volunteers that have:

  • A Christian faith and are an active member of a church
  • A passion for reaching children
  • A willingness to serve
  • A commitment to team work
  • The time needed each term, which includes up to five rehearsals which are approximately 2½ hours each plus twelve days to visit primary schools.

As a volunteer you can expect induction and training, the development of skills and experience in local mission, support, encouragement with lots of fun thrown in!

The assemblies are very well received by teachers and students.  The Head of Key Stage 2 in one school said: “It’s GenR8! We always know we are going to have fun but we know we’re going to be thinking hard as well…”

If anyone is interested in joining the team or just wants to find out more, please contact Anne Sparrow by email at anne.sparrow@outlook.com or Brian and Josephine Griffin at griffin568@btinternet.com.
