Spring Dance 2 AT
Gorleston church to host dance performance

A church in Gorleston is hosting a special performance of Springs Dance Company’s show, A Time to Mourn, A Time to Dance.

The performance will take place on Saturday 5th October at 7.30pm at St Mary Magdalene Church in Gorleston. A Time to Mourn, A Time to Dance is an intimate, uplifting dance show choreographed by Lizzi Kew Ross and Heather Richmond, exploring the tension between loss and joy.

Created after the pandemic, the hour long double-bill offers audiences an opportunity to reflect on grief, human connection and joy, and is ultimately a celebration of life.

Rev Matthew Price, Vicar of St Mary Magdalene Church said, “we are delighted to be bring this performance to Gorleston. It is, I think, a universal human experience that we have times of joy and times of loss in our lives – sometimes they are seasons, sometimes they even occur at the same time. We hope this performance will give audience members of all ages an opportunity to engage in that reality in a new and creative way.”

Previous audience member, Andrea Weigert, commented after seeing the show, “[The show] does not offer easy answers or a simplistic message, but relates to universal emotional experiences. That makes it incredibly powerful and accessible to people from any background.”

Alan Dunn, another audience member, said, “Last night was easily the best experience, the best performance, the best night. Stunning. Blown away. So grateful.”

Mr Price continued, “we are grateful for the support of both Arthur Jary and Sons and the Diocese of Norwich which means that we are able to offer tickets for just £5 per person.”

Tickets for the special performance are now available via the church’s website at www.stmmgorleston.org.uk/atimetodance or by telephoning the church office on 01493 655523.
