Aylsham Church to host Gilbert and Sullivan event

The Wandering Minstrels will present “The World of Gilbert and Sullivan” in St. Michael and All Angels Church in Aylsham next month, and tickets are now available.

The company will sing, act and dance their way through many of the immortal Savoy Operas including “The Yeomen of the Guard”, “The Pirates of Penzance”, “HMS Pinafore”, “The Mikado”, “Princess Ida”, “Iolanthe”, “The Gondoliers” and “Ruddigore”. Artistes appearing in this Gala concert are Helen Winter, Emma Stratton, Charles Mills, Bruce Graham and Tim Hurst-Brown, with Peter Hewitt at the piano.

The concert has been described as a superb light-hearted evening of songs and scenes from the Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas, beautifully sung and delightfully staged. Two hours of Savoy favourites, combining the biting wit of W.S. Gilbert and the enchanting music of Sir Arthur Sullivan.

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, Mr. Michael Gurney, will be present at the concert with his wife. The event begins at 7.30pm and takes place on Saturday 21 September. Tickets are £12 each and are available from Postles in Aylsham marketplace, on 07990 630611, via ctm@performancematters.co.uk or on the door.

The Wandering Minstrels’ have been delighting audiences for many years and have helped to raise almost half a million pounds for various charitable causes with their popular Gilbert and Sullivan concerts.
