Sheringham RNLI oddfellows 750
Sheringham church to host RNLI support concert

All are invited to a free charity brass band concert next month at St Peter’s Church in Sheringham to help raise funds for Sheringham RNLI, and tickets are now available.

The concert is being organised by the Oddfellows’ East Anglian Group Conference, and will feature Oddfellows Brass, a touring band which regularly competes at regional and national levels. The show will last around two hours with an interval and will cover genres such as classical, opera, stage and film, as well as traditional brass band works and compositions.

The event will celebrate the RNLI’s 200-year anniversary. The Oddfellows’ East Anglian Group Conference has been a long-time supporter of RNLI Sheringham, donating three lifeboats over the last six decades, in addition to essential equipment for the station and its crew. The organisation is part of the national friendly society, the Oddfellows.

The concert takes place at 3pm on Sunday 4 August and is free to attend, although there will be a collection for RNLI Sheringham Lifeboat Station on the day. The organisers say that it promises to be a wonderful show for seasoned brass lovers as well as first-timers.

Secretary of the Oddfellows East Anglian Group Conference, David Randall, said: “We’re extremely proud to have been able support RNLI Sheringham for more than 63 years. Their lifesaving work is inspiring and everyone in the community owes them a debt of thanks, so it’d be great to see as many people there as possible to support and celebrate them. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming the band to Sheringham. Oddfellows Brass always puts on a spectacular show.”

Brian Farrow, Sheringham RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, said: "The whole town of Sheringham owes the Oddfellows a great debt for their incredible support of Sheringham Lifeboat for many years.  The close links between The Oddfellows and Sheringham Lifeboat Station means a great deal to all of us and we really look forward to welcoming Oddfellows Brass for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of musical entertainment."
