Norfolk Christian league welfare officer chance

The Norfolk Christian Football League is looking to appoint a new Welfare Officer after the retirement of the long-serving Mike Culwick in the role.

League secretary Paul Nice said:  “After many years of faithful service for which we thank him, Mike has decided to step down from this position.

“Therefore, the League urgently needs a new League Welfare Officer for the 24/25 season.  The role involves ensuring that all affiliated football clubs have welfare arrangements in place (required for both youth and adult teams) that meet the standards required by Norfolk FA. This person would also deal with all welfare concerns raised and circulate welfare updates from the FA to all clubs etc.

“If we, as a league, do not appoint a new welfare officer, we will not be able to affiliate to the Norfolk FA as they require a fully functioning set of league officers to run the league including the welfare officer.  Therefore, all involved with the league need to consider if they, or someone they know, would be willing to serve the Norfolk Christian league football community in this way and provide their name to be voted on at the forthcoming AGM,” said Paul.

“The new league welfare officer would also be a committee member and therefore needs to be a Christian and fully in sympathy with our mission statement of linking church and faith to community through football.  We believe that this league is here for a reason, that is to share our Christian faith with those who enjoy playing and supporting football in our league. We will never dilute that or move away from our commitment to do so, but we need people to make this happen.  So, we need a volunteer from either inside or outside the league who understands the vision of what the league is about.

“It is important to say that this role does not require an in-depth knowledge of football, but rather a willingness to learn how safeguarding and welfare works and support the league in this role.  Please do consider if you, or someone you know could take on this role.”

Please indicate to Paul Nice (NCFL secretary on paulbigsnice@gmail.com) that you would like to be either considered for this role, or have a contact that we can talk about the role with.   Ideally, this needs to happen before the NCFL AGM on June 13.
