Matthew Project names Rachel as its new CEO

Leading Norfolk substance misuse and mental health charity, the Matthew Project, has appointed Rachel Chapman as its permanent Chief Executive (CEO).

The Christian-based charity aims to give hope and support to young people and adults with substance misuse and mental health issues.

Rachel stepped into the role of Interim CEO in March 2023 and, following a successful three-month interregnum and a panel interview with staff and service user representatives, the charity’s board has confirmed Rachel’s appointment to the permanent CEO role.

Commenting on the news, Dr Liz Wiggins, Chair of The Matthew Project said: “Rachel has demonstrated her leadership skills and passion for the work we do and I, and the Trustees, are delighted that she has accepted our invitation to lead the vital work of the charity into the future.”

Rachel said: “I am thrilled to have been asked to lead this amazing organisation. The Matthew Project plays a vital role in bringing hope to many of the most marginalised people in our community and I look forward to helping increase the amount we can do.

“The current economic pressure means we are seeing ever increasing demand for all of our services. At the same time we are striving to secure the all-important funding to enable us meet these demands.”
