Gorleston church spreads January Light
Magdalen Way Methodist Church, in with conjunction Harbour Radio, is seeking to spread some light in the Gorleston area this January.
January Light is a regional Methodist initiative whereby local churches can spread some light in their communities by lighting their windows, holding a light service, lighting candles, as well as many other ideas.
The Methodist Church on Magdalen Way in Gorleston say that January can often be challenging anyway, especially this year. That is why they are reaching out to their community, seeking to share friendship and hope and bring a little bit of January Light. And they are extending the invitation to any church, organisation, family or individual who wants to join in.
They suggest that people make a light themed window display that will cheer everyone up for the month of January when the Christmas decorations come down on twelfth night. Then send a picture to Harbour Radio or Mag Way church so they can share it with others.
They also suggest that we can spread light to others by passing on positive messages of thanks or hope to the people we know who might appreciate some encouragement. Useful contacts and Facebook posts will be available through Harbour Radio and the Mag Way Community Facebook pages - all copyright free.
East Anglia District Methodist Chair, Rev Julian Pursehouse, said “I would like to encourage all the churches and circuits around the East Anglia District to use the opportunity of January Light to express something of the light, hope and kindness of God to the people in our communities – particularly in such a difficult period when we have all suffered because of the world-wide pandemic. There are several simple things we could all do to express our common hope.”
