South Norfolk church's huge Advent calendar
A huge Advent calendar and a life-sized Nativity Tableau have been set up at a South Norfolk chapel and passers-by can watch each day as a new window is opened.
Steven Halstead, from Carleton Rode Baptist Church, said: “We have been busy this Advent season, deciding to turn our coffee shop windows into one big Advent calendar.
"Each day, a poster has been designed by one of our fellowship around a Bible passage, and then displayed on the day, building up the story. We have publicized this to our villages, encouraging all to come along and see the story unfold."
The chapel has also once again built a Nativity Tableau, outside the church. The stable is made up of odd pieces of wood, old fence panels, and anything else they could salvage - "but isn't that a good representation of the humble abode our Lord Jesus was born in?," said Steven.
“The central characters of Mary, Joseph, the Magi and Shepherds, are all depicted in silhouette and back-lit at night. We invite all who pass along Chapel Lane, to stop a moment and ponder the scene, and remember the real meaning of Christmas.”
The calendar and tableau will remain in place for the whole Christmas period. You can find the church at NR16 1RN.
