World class teaching benefits Norfolk church leaders

Over 120 leaders across Norfolk attended the Global Leadership Summit at Drayton Hall, Norwich on November 14th and 15th.

Facilitated by Lighthouse Community Church, Sheringham and Norwich Youth for Christ, delegates came from local churches and organisations, including many leadership teams who came to the event together as a group.

The Global Leadership Summit (GLS) took place in Chicago during August but is recorded and then hosted as video cast events in 128 countries and translated into 60 languages, meaning that over 300,000 people will engage with the event worldwide.

Speakers came from a wide range of backgrounds and careers. Church pastor and Summit Champion, Craig Groeschel, opened the the event and discussed a different way to consider return on investment. Author and tv personality Bear Grylls, encouraged people to face their failures and fears whilst also embracing the importance of faith. Jo Saxton, author and leadership coach spoke about 'levelling up' in leadership while Dr Kirsh Kandiah, founder of charity Home for Good, spoke about the importance of inclusive leadership. “I’m not a ‘bang the table leader’, I’m more of a ‘set the table leader’ ”

Ben Sherwood, former Co-Chairman of Disney Media Networks, talked about leading in uncertain times and Chris Voss former FBI hostage negotiator offered some practical tips in discussions and meetings.

Nick Blanch, Director of Norwich Youth For Christ said "It is a real honour to facilitate this event and reflect on such godly wisdom from so many experts. I heard so many positive responses from delegates but I think I got just as much out of the teaching!"

Darren Woodward, Church leader from Oak Grove Community Church said it was "an expertly hosted event with world-class teaching and input delivered direct to me and the team I serve. Great value with lots to provoke our thinking and apply into action."

Gordon Darley, Director of marketing and communications for Diocese of Norwich said “ A brilliant few days at the Norfolk Global Leadership Summit / GLS - so encouraging and some really insightful wisdom to glean. Next year already booked!
