Norwich music duo make top five in UK Christian Charts

Norwich-based musical duo The Family Table have made it to number five in this month’s UK Christian Independent Charts with the song Home from their debut EP.

The EP "Conversations Around The Family Table" explores love, life, family and faith, mixing storytelling though song with folky violins and electric guitars.

This month's charts include top Christian artists such as Martin Smith and Seth Pinnock.

The duo - Ben Lawrence and Sarah Ballard, met as work colleagues five years ago and soon turned collaborators in their music. Ben (vocals and guitar) began his music career as the lead singer in a band. He is a film-maker for both a local youth organisation and a local church. Sarah (vocals, guitar, violin, flute, keys) has a varied music background from playing in bands to running community choirs and teaching classical music. Sarah currently works as a music youth worker and violin teacher.

Ben and Sarah say they love to collaborate with all forms of creativity and set up The Family Table to provide a platform to bring together creatives and tell their stories in the best way possible.

With the EP aiming to communicate the ethos and values of The Family Table, it is clearly striking a chord with people with its recent chart success, said Sarah.

"We're delighted and amazed to see Home in the top 10 this month. It's great to see so many people enjoying and connecting with our music. The lyrics in Home seem to have really touched people - I guess we all need somewhere to call Home, and to be reminded that the Father is singing over us and calling us to Him."

The charts rating is decided 50% by a panel of 120 judges, and 50% by public vote.
