Country band Ashton Lane plays at mid Norfolk church

After last year's highly successful event, British country band Ashton Lane is returning to The Well Christian Centre for a concert on October 5.

The concert is set for Saturday October 5 at The Well Christian Centre near Watton.

All the ticket revenue goes to charity. Last year £1068 went to The Bishops appeal to New Guinea. The money raised from this year's event will be split between The Cornerstone Building Trust and The Chinnamandhu Ramanjula Widows and Orphanage in Palakoi India.

British Country Band Ashton Lane have a romantic back-story and come from fine musical stock. They are husband and wife duo Esther and Tim O'Conner and Esther's father Graeme Duffin, guitarist with the Scottish band Wet Wet Wet. They are part of a new wave of homegrown modern country music originating in the U.K.

Last year Ashton Lane performed at the famous Country 2 Country festival in London, as well as receiving nominations in two categories at the BCMA (British Country Music Awards) for best duo and best song. They also played an impressive set at McEwan's Party At The Palace in August and toured extensively around Europe. There albums are receiving five star reviews and radio support around the UK and Europe.

Support for the evening will be none other than Katy Hurt who has rapidly become a leading light on the UK Country/Americana scene and all without having released a full length studio album. 2018 has seen her nominated for "Best Country/Folk Act" at the Unsigned Music Awards as well as performing festival slots at  Country 2 Country BlackDeer,  Rythemtree, Cornbury and many more. BBC's Radio 2's Paul Sexton described Katy as "One of the most exciting prospects on the burgeoning Country scene", saying Hurts distinctive EP is the latest evidence of a career that's already produced an iTunes U.K. Country No1 in 'Love you More', she's a vivacious and magnetic performer.

Do you appreciate our service and stories?

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.

To pay for that service, we rely on our partner organisations, advertisers and readers to, in turn, support us financially. We want to keep the website free for everyone to access and continue to be able to pay for writers to produce the content you can enjoy every day.

We would like to ask you to consider supporting our work and suggest you might want to make a small regular donation of just £1 a week and become one of our 100 Friends, or a larger one-off or annual amount.

Because we are part of a registered charity we can reclaim Gift Aid on your donations if you are a tax-payer.
