Local churches’ generosity helps Yarmouth homeless

The Living Room charity in Great Yarmouth has been able to boost its help to the town’s homeless this winter, thanks to help from several local churches. Tony Rothe reports.

Quality of life for Living Room visitors was also boosted by the installation by Kingsgate Community Church in Yarmouth of a new washing machine and tumble drier, right, which the visitors can access when they are staying there overnight.

Donations came from as far afield as Norwich, when Soul Church sent several sleeping bags, pictured above, as well as a big box of packets of crisps and bags of toiletries and essentials put together from a primary school pupil from their congregation.

The charity also received a supply of bottled water from Bookers Cash and Carry, right, and gift packs of toiletries and other useful goods from All Saints Church in Belton

Anna said “We are so thankful for all the donations we receive, both money and goods from individuals and organisations. We continue to run drop-ins for the visitors over the summer months, so donations are still very much appreciated, e.g. toiletries, sanitary products, new underwear and socks, hand warmers, etc.”
