Free safeguarding event for Norfolk faith leaders 

The Norfolk and Suffolk Safeguarding Children Boards want to develop greater links with colleagues in faith communities so they can offer better support on safeguarding priorities and developments.

Safeguarding Event for Norfolk and Suffolk Faith Group Leaders

Time: 9:15am – 4:00pm

Objectives of the Conference

  • To establish a sustainable network with faith communities in Norfolk and Suffolk
  • To engage faith communities in the current national and local safeguarding agenda
  • To inform faith communities of the Safeguarding Children Board priorities in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Guest speakers:

Manwar Ali Interventions Provider for the Office of Security & Counter-Terror (OSCT), Home Office since 2012. Manwar is commissioned to provide sessions to clients by various Police forces, Probation and Social services for purposes both within the Prevent programme and outside of it. Manwar specialises as a Muslim theological IP. He gives presentations and advises through education programmes against Muslim radicalism and Islam extremism.

Hugh Constant Practice Development Manager, Social Care Institute for Excellence Hugh will talk about the Church of England commissioned work on an independent audit of diocesan safeguarding arrangements.

The conference will also include a presentation on faith and mental health and an update on child sexual abuse.
