Norwich church goes 'back to basics'

Together Loving Christ is a growing fellowship of believers in Norwich who decided to go back to basics with how to ‘do’ church. Their passion for reaching people with the gospel has influenced their activities, including the hosting of several theatre performances

Together Loving Christ currently meet at Drayton Hall in Drayton, Norwich.

Lead pastor Kiera Long explains how the church has developed in recent times, “This new fellowship has been on an amazing journey during the last 18 months since the first meeting and has gone back to basics in a way which has seen an outpouring of God’s blessing on the church, with seven people being baptised in May.”
Without a worship band, the congregation has been reawakened to learn to engage their hearts in worship. Kiera said, “There is no-one for us to watch at the front. We have simply to connect with God through worship music without unwittingly trying to emulate or copy anything we see before us.”
The fellowship has gone back to basics in other respects too. They have no paid full-time staff, therefore offerings collected have been used to support many different charities, both local and overseas including Bible Society, Christian Aid, MAF, Hope into Action and on-going projects Compassion and Toilet Twinning, amongst others.
Kiera said, “Our vision is simple: we love God, love one another, preach the gospel and seek to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”
Together Loving Christ as keen to be involved in their local community and have fundraised for the nearby Priscilla Bacon Hospice and have helped to fundraise for disabled access at a local school swimming pool.
In the last year the fellowship have hosted three professional theatrical performances.
Kiera is an experienced performer herself and is passionate about reaching people with the gospel through performance and theatre. She said, “Storytelling is an extremely powerful way of communicating  the deep truth of God that is found in the bible.”
