Mothers’ Union offers adventure for Norfolk children
The Mothers’ Union (Norwich Diocese) is inviting 7-12 year olds to their Big Day Out at the Horstead Centre at the edge of the Norfolk Broads, to give an adventurous experience to children who might otherwise not have any during the Easter school break.
On Saturday, April 14, 10am-5pm The Big Day Out sponsored by the Mothers' Union (Diocese of Norwich), will provide an adventurous experience for children who, for whatever reason, may not have other opportunities for days out during the Easter school holiday.
The day will be held at the Horstead Centre, a residential activity centre set on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. The day is free including a barbecue lunch, snacks, tea and all drinks for those who attend. The four fun activities will include canoeing, a zip wire tower experience, archery and crate stack. Additional activities will depend on numbers.
Felicity Randall, who leads the Action and Outreach Unit for the Mothers’ Union Diocese of Norwich said: "The day is targeted at those who might not otherwise get outings or activities during the Easter holiday. If the children we hope to target are part of a wider group (eg. choir or Junior Church) you may of course bring them all in order to include the child or children concerned. That is fine. You do not need to tell us which is which.”
Children need not be accompanied all day as Horstead is fully staffed by DBS registered adventure leaders. One parent or group leader per group is welcome to stay.
Felicity continued: “This is an opportunity to affirm the importance of children in our congregations at a time when many parishes struggle to attract the numbers needed to form peer-age friendship groups for children's activities.”
The deadline for booking and completing forms is Sunday 1 April.
You can download a booking form and consent form from the Diocese of Norwich website.
