Norfolk pregnancy loss charity supports record numbers

TimeNorfolk hosted an event last week where they thanked their donors and heard from people who have been supported through the devastating experience of baby loss.

Director Lesley Bradfield said 'In 2017 we received over 200 requests for help from people following pregnancy loss and we are the busiest that we have ever been. TimeNorfolk has been very well supported by our local community within Norfolk which is why we would like to say thank you, without your support, there would be no TimeNorfolk.'

Many from the Norfolk community gathered for an evening event on February 22 to hear clients share their stories of loss and how they had been supported by TimeNorfolk. Victoria Waterfield shared her story of multiple miscarriages and her journey as a client before going on to become a trained volunteer with TimeNorfolk. Victoria is passionate about providing the kind of support to others which she received in her time of need.
Married couple Chris and Nikki Adlam shared their story of loss from the perspective of a father and a mother. Nikki said, 'Time Norfolk has been a lifeline for my whole family. Here, I was given space and time to focus on me, my experiences, my feelings and ultimately, my recovery. It was a safe, caring place where I could be honest and real. My feelings were validated and I began to understand why I could not just gather myself together this time and carry on.  I was able to grieve for the baby I had lost, I was able to process the trauma I had experienced. The process was emotionally exhausting but so worth while.

"Time Norfolk allowed me to enjoy the precious first year with my baby and to be the mother and wife that I needed and wanted to be. I cannot express enough how unique an offering and how life giving this service is, nor how it profoundly impacts not just the person receiving the counselling but their partners, children and families.'
The evening was kindly supported by Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich who allowed TimeNorfolk to host the evening there. Staff from the Virgin Money Lounge in Norwich have recently voted and donated a place to TimeNorfolk in the London Marathon in April.
