Explore Advent mystery with Wymondham Abbey Spiral

From December 11-15 Wymondham Abbey is hosting a week of events centred around its beautiful Advent Spiral welcoming anyone to come and prepare for the mystery of Christmas.

Wymondham Abbey is inviting people to take some time out of the Christmas rush and experience some of the mystery of Christmas using their beautiful Advent Spiral.  The Advent Spiral is created in the centre of the Abbey using fresh greenery and candles leading to a manger at the centre.  The beauty and stillness is added to by calming music and aroma from essential oils.

Rev Catherine Relf-Pennington said: “It has proved very popular in previous years as a lovely gentle meditation anyone can do. You are invited to light a candle and carry it slowly into the centre of the Spiral and leave it at the manger at the centre.

“The atmosphere is wonderful and reflective. It only takes a few minutes to walk the spiral – but most people stay longer. There will be places to sit and reflect and the beauty and the gentle music make this a ‘spa for your spirit’.”

Children are more than welcome to enjoy the magical experience.

At 12.30pm each day vegetarian soup and a roll will be available. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available all day.

You can experience the Advent Spiral from Monday December, 11 at 2pm to Friday, December 15, with a number of additional activities, listed below:

Tuesday, December 12 until 8.00pm: Late Night Opening. Carefully lit, the church becomes a truly uplifting space when darkness has fallen.

Thursday, December 14, 6.30pm – 7.30pm: Deep contemplative teaching on non-dual living.
