King’s Lynn churches show unity with week of events

In January the churches of King’s Lynn will come together to pray for Christian unity and triumph over oppression, with a week of daily services hosted by eight churches in the town.

From Thursday, January 18 to Thursday, January 25, Churches Together in King’s Lynn will celebrate Christian unity with daily, half hour services hosted by churches from a wide range of denominations in the town.

The theme of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is triumph over oppression, using resources written by churches in the Caribbean based on Exodus 15.  Rooted in the Caribbean experience of slavery, the events will explore modern day oppression such as human trafficking, addiction, debt and domestic abuse.

The week will begin with a half hour service at North Lynn Methodist Church on Thursday, January 18, 12.30pm-1pm led by Rev Andrew Maguire.  It will conclude the following Thursday, January 25 at The London Road Methodist Church, at the same time with a service led by Oladapo Adegoke from the Church of the King’s Glory.

During the week services will also be held at the Salvation Army, the Gateway Church, the Church of St John the Evangelist, the Church of the Annunciation and King’s Lynn Christian Fellowship.
