Over 200 crib scenes featured at Norwich church festival
Rosebery Road Methodist Church in Norwich is once again staging its annual Christmas Crib Festival. This year they hope to raise money for the Norwich and Central Norfolk branch of Mind.
The church will be open to visitors on December 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th & 10th, from 10.30 am to 4 pm except on the Sundays when it will be open from 12 noon.
The display has grown and developed over the years and now features at least two hundred crib scenes ranging from miniature nativity sets and Christmas tree decorations to much larger displays. The church members and friends continue to add to the collection of cribs from many different parts of the world.
The aim is to have as wide a variety of styles and materials as possible, so there are wall hangings and embroideries, knitting and crochet among the many handcrafted items made by members and friends of the church. There are also figures made from stationery materials, paper and cork as well as a growing collection from natural materials such as fir cones, nuts and seeds, poppy seed heads and seashore items, three of which are unique as they have been designed and made by one of the members.
There have been many appreciative comments from visitors to the Festival in previous years. People have called it a joyous, amazing and memorable event which is delightfully arranged. Some say it is their annual Christmas treat, and they enjoy the variety in the displays.
There will be informal Christmas Organ Recitals by Tim Patient on both Saturdays from 11am to 12 noon.
The Crib Festival ends on Sunday 10th December at 4 pm with a Christingle Carol service.
There will be light refreshments available each day, as well as craft and second hand book stalls for church expenses.
Parking is available in the school playground opposite at weekends.
