Norwich church launches in spectacular style

The Open Door Christian Fellowship launched with a magnificent grand open day on Saturday July 15, followed by its first Sunday service.

Residents of the South Park Estate, Eaton came out in force to mark the opening of the new church in its home on Ramsey Close.  They enjoyed bouncy castles, penalty shootouts, face painting, a free barbecue with cakes, hot drinks and ice-creams, emergency vehicles, first aid lessons and entertainment, including a puppet show by Daniel Forde-Pogson and live music provided by Norwich Youth for Christ.

Pastor Stuart Bailey said, "We had prayed for a hundred people to come. There must have been more than that because our barbecue ran out food!  It was great to see people of all ages enjoying the day.”

ODCF2"It was also a great opportunity for us to showcase the things we are doing and hope to do in the near future.  We are already working with the young people who use the nearby skate-park as well as running clubs for school-children on the estate. “

The Open Door Christian Fellowship plans to use its building for the community. The Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) holds meetings at the church and there are plans to host a collection point for Norwich foodbank.

Stuart said, "We believe the church is called to practically demonstrate the love of Jesus and we aim to be the source of real blessing for the community in which we are located".

The open day was followed on Sunday July 16 by the church's first service.  30 people came along to worship and share food and fellowship.  Meetings will continue at 11am every Sunday; everyone is welcome - the doors are open wide!
