Baby appeal by Norwich Christian charity

BabyMumNorwich-based Christian charity Pregnancy Crisis – Norfolk has issued an appeal for good quality baby equipment to give away to young mothers in need.
Last year the charity, which offers confidential counselling and caring support to anyone in distress due to a crisis pregnancy, gave away around 100 items of equipment and has become known as a place where, mostly young, mothers come to find really good quality baby equipment for free.   Buggies, prams, cots, moses baskets, baby clothes are now regularly given away.
Director Biddy Collyer said: “When they receive something the young women are over the moon, because all the goods that we have are really top quality.
“Up until this week the supply has kept a pace with the demand, but now we have become so well known for the baby equipment, our stock has run really low.
“Specifically at the moment, we are looking for a bottle sterilizer, moses basket, cot blankets and a double buggy suitable for a 2 ½ year old and newborn for a single young woman whose £500 maternity grant has not come through yet,” said Biddy. “She is 36 weeks pregnant and very anxious to have everything ready for when the baby comes home.  I want to stress that we only accept really good quality goods that we would be happy to place our own children in.”
If anyone can help they should ring the Centre on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday on 01603 616580.

Do you appreciate our service and stories?

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.

To pay for that service, we rely on our partner organisations, advertisers and readers to, in turn, support us financially. We want to keep the website free for everyone to access and continue to be able to pay for writers to produce the content you can enjoy every day.

We would like to ask you to consider supporting our work and suggest you might want to make a small regular donation of just £1 a week and become one of our 100 Friends, or a larger one-off or annual amount.

Because we are part of a registered charity we can reclaim Gift Aid on your donations if you are a tax-payer.
