Sheringham church re-opens after repairs
2015: St Peters church in Sheringham has re-opened after the final completion of a £150,000-plus renovation programme aimed at protecting the 117-year-old building from the elements. Tony Rothe reports.
Norwich-based church renovation specialists G F Atthowe began work on the project in 2011. At that time much of the crumbing plaster was stripped off, but the brickwork inside needed to be left exposed for a couple of years to fully dry out before the work could be completed.
Services, concerts, and church activities, including the Noah’s Ark parent and toddler group and Little Stars children’s church group have been continuing in the church hall during the work.
Constance Tyce, from St Peters, said “We are thrilled to be back in our lovely church building, and are very relieved that the repairs are fully completed”.
