A Delirious night in Norwich

2006: Delirious? painted the town red, orange, purple and blue in Norwich on March 9 in front of an enthusiastic sell-out audience of 1000 at the OPEN Venue in the city centre.
“This is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever played in,” lead singer Martin Smith told the crowd.

“Fire may have burnt down the original church venue for this concert but nobody is ever going to put out the fire of the passion of God in people’s lives.”
And it was a passionate evening from the opening chords of Here I am Send Me to the closing ones of Love Falls Down.
Delirious? enjoy playing gigs large and small lead guitarist StuG told Network Norwich: “We are happy to play in front of 500 people or 5,000 in venues big and small, and even in front of 400,000 in a field in India,” he said, referring to an event earlier in the year.

The top Christian rockers have opened for such big names as Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams but in Norwich they lived up to their top billing.
Delirious5“We write music for people in church,” said StuG, “but we also want to be accessible to those outside the church. The quality benchmark is the High Street and we want to make music that is good enough for there as well.”
There was little argument over the quality of the sound as Delirious? had the OPEN literally shaking to the sound of numbers such as Rain Down, God in heaven and Fires Burn.
Many of the songs were taken from the latest Delirious? album Mission Bell.
Delirious6A sublime version of Majesty had the crowd in full voice followed by an old classic History Maker. The tour was called Paint The Town Red and was aptly named.
Mount Zion’s Wildlife youth club organised the Norwich gig and its youth director Jon Norman ended the evening by declaring: “This was not just a concert tonight. It is where young people are finding Jesus.”
