Mid Norfolk church launches CAP debt centre
On Sunday April 27 Fountain of Life Church in Ashill officially launched the new Mid-Norfolk CAP Debt Centre providing free help to local people struggling with overwhelming debt.
There was great celebration at the Fountain of Life Church, Ashill on Sunday April 27 as the new Mid-Norfolk CAP Debt Centre was officially launched during the morning service.
A speaker from the debt charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) addressed the congregation which included representatives from other churches working in partnership to support the project.
John Graver, volunteer Debt Centre Manager, said ‘We are already starting to meet the need for debt assistance in this area with five referrals to this service since the beginning of April.
“I work with a dedicated team of experts at CAP Head Office in Bradford and support workers from local churches who get alongside people to support them through the process to make them debt-free within five years.’
The Mid Norfolk centre will join three other CAP Debt centres in the region helping people in Fakenham, Aylsham and Norwich.
The centre offers an in-depth, caring service to people with spiralling personal debt regardless of their age, gender, faith or background. Every client is visited in their own home, the charity does all the negotiating with creditors and local volunteers offer support to each person face-to-face until the day they are debt free.
Heather Nunn, a member of the Fountain of Life Church and the management group overseeing the project said: “This project is possible only through churches working together in partnership who also support the project financially. This is a great way for Christians to work together to give valuable assistance to people in the Community and to demonstrate the love of God.’
People with unmanageable debt seeking help should phone 0800 328 0006.
