Norfolk church celebrates 200th anniversary

CarletonRodeBalloons4202012: Carleton Rode Baptist Church in South Norfolk has embarked on a year of celebrations to mark its 200th anniversary.

On Sunday January 1, the congregation gathered for their morning service, to mark the beginning of a year of celebrations. This year they are celebrating their 200th anniversary, and also the completion of the redevelopment of their fire damaged building, due to be complete in February.

Pastor Mark Taylor said: “During the service the congregation committed themselves to God and serving one another, they we wrote words of blessing, favour, and promise on small cards which were attached to helium balloons. At the end of the service these balloons and words of blessing were released to rise over the community as a symbolic gesture that God will bless our community (pictured above).”

Celebrations are set to continue through out the year with a Barn Dance on February 4 and a weekend with Michael Harcus on February 25 and 26. June will be the main focus for celebration and there is much planned for then.

As part of the 200th anniversary celebrations Carleton Rode Baptist Church extends an invitation to: An evening with Michael Harcus - Bunwell Village Hall, 7pm, Saturday February 25
