Rent hike threat to All Saints Centre in Norwich

AllSaintsKitchenWebThe Christian drop-in All Saints’ Centre, in Norwich, is facing an uncertain future after a dramatic rent increase from its landlords and is appealing for support for its vital work. Trustee Rev Barry Furness reports.

The All Saints Centre greets 2010 with an uncertain future but with faith in its heart.

Having celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, and become an important and respected part of Norwich life over that 30 years, serving the people of, and visitors to, Norwich in so many ways, a dramatic rent increase from landlords The Norwich Historic Churches Trust has come as rather a blow.

With its current lease expiring in March, the Trustees have been considering its future and in spite of financial difficulties agree that it must continue, particularly as it is a Christian Centre and we know that with God all things are possible.

AllSaintsCentreAll Saints’ Centre is a beacon of God’s love in the Centre of Norwich, and a place where Christians of all denominations, or none, can serve the community in the name of Christ. It cannot therefore hide its light under a bushel by moving to back-street premises; nor can it close its doors, as it is a much needed and used city centre facility. So ….. to the future!

The Trustees continue to look for grants, openings for publicity and support from the community and are moving on in faith. There are plans for a service of re dedication, with our patron Bishop Graham James, on Thursday April 15, when we shall be putting the next five years’ lease in God’s hands and committing ourselves to the future.

Meanwhile we hope that, if you haven’t already been in, you will do so. We serve delicious, low-cost, home-cooked lunches and provide and warm, comfortable and welcoming venue in the city for you to ‘Come away to a quiet place and rest awhile’.

We are also for more volunteers to play a role in the future of the centre
